2016 Innovation Challenge Runners Up: Wilfred Chege He is a 2x founder from Nakuru, Kenya with 8 years of experience in venture building. His background is in Business and Information Technology. He has received accreditation from National, Regional as well as Global institutions. His passion for entrepreneurship was kindled at the age of 16 years and since then he continues to actively run his ventures. He is passionate about leveraging technology to solve Africa’s age-old woes.

He is the Founder& CEO of Zendawa and Shulemall Limited. His journey with Uzuzi Hub began in 2016 when he joined a Business Club at Nakuru High School. One big achievement that he mentions is celebrating 5 years of the Shulemall Company. Shulemall is a platform provides students with the convenience of placing their orders from our online marketplace at rock-bottom prices with fast delivery to either school, home, or a pick-up station. Zendawa provides a marketplace where end users can make orders for their prescription and non-prescription pharmaceutical products. This Anzisha and MEST fellow won the Global Student Entrepreneur, Kenya in the year 2021 – 2022 which excelled his business acumen even further ahead.     Rethread Africa emerged as the standout winner of the 2023 Uzuzi Hub Innovation Challenge, capturing the judges' attention with their groundbreaking approach to sustainable fashion. Rethread Africa addresses the growing problem of textile waste by transforming discarded garments into high-quality, eco-friendly products. Their innovative recycling process reduces environmental impact and creates employment opportunities within local communities.

    Following their victory, Rethread Africa represented Kenya at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress Africa held in South Africa. Their impressive performance won them the top award, and they are now set to represent Africa at the Global Entrepreneurship World Cup later this year. This achievement highlights their potential to impact a global scale significantly and showcases the effectiveness of circular fashion solutions.
